Hi Frank,

I have been meaning to write you for almost a year now to let you know I finished and it came out great. I can’t thank you enough for your plans and more importantly your knowledge and time you took answering my questions.

I have attached two pictures of the finished bridge. The footings are 2’x6’ (step type) and 3 ½ feet deep, there are four 2x6 arches 30’ long a nd the decking is recycled TREX decking from a co-worker replacing his deck.
In all this cost me $1500 and my time.
I was told by a friend that sells fences and bridges that this would have cost upwards of $10K had I had his company do it.

Thanks again for your awesome plans and all your help,

ScottS CT

Dear Mr. Petersohn,

I wanted to thank you for helping to make my Eagle Scout project a success. Your plan allowed me to build a bridge at Fort Yargo State Park for the entire community to enjoy. The bridge was officially dedicated on September 18th and is now available for use. The Barrow County News reported the dedication in their September 26th edition, and mentioned you as the designer. I have attached a copy of the article that I thought you might like to read as well as some pictures. Your name was included on a plaque mounted to the bridge as well.

Sincerely,

Charles Ford, GA BSA Troop 554

Hi Frank,

Brian finished his Eagle project bridge.
We did the footings first at the site, you can see the old bridge that the bridge replaced. We used the old bridge to help in assembly until the last, when it was removed.

Next the arches pieces were cut and the arches assembled at our house.

We dis-assembled them and took them to the site on a trailer, 30ft. bridge 30ft. bridge
there we re-assembled the arches, using the old bridge as an aid.

The deck was put on, 30ft. bridge 30ft. bridge
then the handrails were done. 30ft. bridge 30ft. bridge
Finally we finished it!!!
It is quite a bridge.
The camp lake was a beautiful site to work at.

It took eight work days and 250 man-hours of work. Brian had to keep up with the work hours. He had about 20 different scouts and adults work on it. A local lumber company made a generous donation of 1/3 of the lumber cost, and then sold Brian the rest of the lumber at cost. The final cost was about $800 dollars US.

The camp is proud of their new bridge. They put it on their website: http://campchestnutridge.org/
Just click on the Eagle Project Finished text.
Thanks for a great bridge design!

Frank,
We constructed our 30' bridge here in the driveway, dismantled it yesterday and raised it over the creek. We hope to finish with the decking and handrail next weekend and will send a picture of the finished product then.
